Media @ New Hope CalgaryWe begin a new series called, The Parable of the Tanking Economy. In this message Pastor John will focus on the topic of uncertainty.

None of us can know what the future holds, and I know that the uncertainty is very unsettling. These are not easy times.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi, metro, January 26, 2016

This is a daydream city, faith in the impossible our biggest hazard and our biggest asset. Maybe that blindness sets us up for the inevitable fall, the hangover of dismay, collapse and ruin. For the fall does come, the sudden plummet to gritty and deserted streets, to office tower floors ghostly with their own abandonment, to the dazed and wandering disbelief of those who believed the boom would last forever, who are bewildered by their own BMW payments,
condo fees and Visa bills.
Writer Aritha Van Herk, A Meditation on Calgary in our Turbulent Times,

If you work [my] words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who dug deep and laid the foundation of his house on bedrock. When the river burst its banks and crashed against the house, nothing could shake it; it was built to last. But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don't work them into your life, you are like a dumb carpenter who built a house but skipped the foundation. When the swollen river came crashing in, it collapsed like a house of cards. It was a total loss.
Jesus in Luke 6:46-49, MSG

Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
The Prophet Isaiah 40:28-31, NIV

Well said: "We turn to demigogs like Donald Trump."
That is exactly why he has been propped up, this crash is well orchestrated and its outcome is also planned, that to drive people into the arms of a Donald Trump, going from the frying pan to the fire.

I'm a Christian, and so as a brother I will say this as gently as I can. This was not unforseeable, not at all. The rest of the world has been enduring the real economy for years while Alberrtans soared along in their bubble, never once noticing what's going on in the real world, since their world was so good.

In the world today, you will not find truth in the mainstream news, or from your government. They have waxed wicked, far more than in the past, as Christ said would occur. To sum it up, Albertans didn't see this coming because they don't know "what time it is."
We are very, very close to the days of Tribulation, which will find most believers fast asleep, watching TV, sports, chasing the dollar, or just tuned out. You missed this because you don't know what time it is, and I don't mean the obligatory "we're in the last days" rhetoric.
I mean, we are literally in the last days. Time to wake from the slumber, this crash will grow worse and worse. Not because oil will drop to $10, but because the real economic collapse is next up.
