"Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”
Deuteronomy 5:16, NIV

“Children, do what your parents tell you. This is only right. "Honor your father and mother" is the first commandment that has a promise attached to it, namely, "so you will live well and have a long life." Fathers, don't exasperate your children by coming down hard on them. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master.”
The Apostle Paul to the Ephesians 6:1-4, NIV

"A son honours his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honour due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?" says the LORD Almighty. "It is you, O priests, who show contempt for my name. "But you ask, 'How have we shown contempt for your name?'"
The prophet Malachi 1:6, NIV

“Since, therefore, the name of Father is a sacred one, and is transferred to men by the peculiar goodness of God, the dishonoring of parents redounds to the dishonor of God Himself, nor can any one despise his father without being guilty of an offense against God…”
John Calvin, Harmony of the Law, vol 3

“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.”
Jesus in Matthew 10:37, NIV (really!)

"My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not your mother's teaching. . . . When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you."
Proverbs 6:20-22

Nope. I refuse. I will not honour two bigoted clueless abusers. Even their best friends used to complain to me about them and told me I should stay away from both of them if I valued my sanity. My father's dead. Good riddance. Only my step mother could stand him, and my mother's going to die alone. Fitting.

And spare me your moralizing. You need people to spit in your face for this sanctimonious claptrap.

Some say it's the price of freedom. A loving God can only be freely loved if we have freedom to choose. Freedom to choose leaves the possibility of bad choices. Its still a mystery though.

If it breaks the heart of god then why did he let that happen.
